Mississippi Town Hall: The Fight for Justice and Operation: Hydrate Jackson

  • Afrikan Art Gallery and Bookstore 800 North Farish Street Jackson, MS, 39202 United States (map)

On Sunday September 18th the Elmer Geronimo Pratt Gun Club, the Black Liberation Movement and the Mississippi on the Move collective will be hosting The Fight for Justice: Mississippi Town Hall and Operation: Hydrate Jackson on Sept 18th from 2 pm- 7 pm in Jackson Mississippi. The purpose and focus is the continued fight for justice in the state of Mississippi and what that ultimately looks like. Justice is more than reforming the unethical criminal system, but reforming things such as the failing infrastructure and education system. Lowering the poverty rate and creating economic opportunities is justice.

There will be a call to action with expected speakers including the family of Emmett Till, D’Monterrio Gibson and more who speak on their experiences navigating the path to justice. State Representative Robert Johnson III will be in attendance as well. There will also be an opportunity for Criminal Record Expungement assistance from on-sight legal resource experts. Due to the water crisis in Jackson, we will also act as a distribution point for water and other much needed items which will be provided to families in need. Please see our news release page for more information.

Complimentary food and refreshments will be provided. The event is Free and Open to the Public.
